Loy was written in close collaboration with Simone Mancuso. The piece was crafted around four intruments we found in the ASU percussion studio: a cowbell, a break drum, and two metal pieces of farm equipment.
The word “loy” is an Irish word for a metal spade, a reference to the specific instruments central to this piece.
